Watching a clip from the film Je vous trouve très beau (2005, Isabelle Mergault), I realised one thing I really like is the way the French do awkward (also, so good to note the numerous female French directors)!
I really appreciate their characters. They are much more believable then Hollywood’s perfected images and stereotypes, and therefore much more likeable.
Everything seems much more real; the situations, the socio-economics of the characters, their appearance, their experiences, their stories.
It make our *Western Hollywood* cinema seem more about escapism.
But the french do awkward so well. And they make it okay.
